No, you don’t need a GP referral to participate. However, we recommend discussing all treatment options with your doctor or specialist, particularly if you have other health conditions that may affect your ability to exercise.

ONERO™ is specifically designed for people with osteopenia and osteoporosis. The program is delivered by licensed practitioners trained in bone-targeted exercise, and all sessions are fully supervised.
Based on Onero™ program research, it is recommended that you attend sessions twice per week, for at least 12 months. Classes run across school terms (four terms per year), each running for 10 weeks.
Classes are currently available at our Kiama clinic. We are currently the only provider offering the ONERO™ program in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region.
No, it’s also for men. While the program is particularly well researched for postmenopausal women, it is also suitable for men with osteopenia or osteoporosis.
Yes, each person who joins the program will need an assessment with one of our ONERO™ licensed physiotherapists. This assessment includes: discussion of your Bone Mineral Density results (please bring them along), education and advice regarding physical activity for low bone density and instruction on the ONERO™ exercises to ensure safety and correct technique.
You can use one of these sessions for the assessment only.. Unfortunately, Medicare does not provide rebates for exercise classes.
